So... Where I work has been ruthlessly pushing us to 'agile' working (whether we want to or not) - laptops, clear desks, we can work anywhere and everywhere... yeay.
Then it snows, right, and you'd think that given we now have the option of working from home, then this would be the time to do it...
Oh no. Apparently, in inclement weather, we all have to go into the office - it makes us look bad if we don't and isn't fair on the staff who don't agile work if we stay at home.
Aaahhhhhhhhhh
Cool things that happened this week -
I got a paper published!
I had a lovely night out with friends who I haven't seen for ages
I bought a new vacuum cleaner in the sales that I genuinely needed and actually think was a proper bargain
Not so cool things that happened this week -
My dad is in hospital with a collapsed lung (yikes!)
I have an enormous spot on my chin that despite significant efforts poking and squeezing, just wont pop
We're doing Bake Off competition at work, and I drew the quiche round.
I've never made a quiche before, so I'm gonna practice.
Today is my first one... how hard can this be, right?
brb - need ingredients
Where is the line between crying for help and attention seeking?
Between suffering from stress and just being relentlessly negative?
What is the difference between being supportive, and enabling?
And how can I tell whether to care about someone who's ill, or back away from someone who's toxic?
Fucked if I know - but I do know this...
The minute my current flatmate moves out and hands back her keys, I am locking the door behind her and having a fucking party.π

Believe me, you DON'T want to know about the fic usin it.
Oh my. Today I found an aggregate news website...
I've been wanting to find something like this for ages. Listed by topic, links to the articles, collated from around the world.
Awesome.
Today I spent the day in a traditional iron foundry, getting up close and personal with wrought iron and cast iron, with forges and crucibles and moulds.
I was metres away from metal so hot it was liquid, and saw things on fire that should never be able to burn.
I'm exhausted, and I stink, and I have a small crush on a blacksmith called Bob who created art right in front of us by simply banging it with a hammer.
I'm sure it will pass, but the digital world seems so insubstantial right now

If the laws could speak for themselves, they would complain of the lawyers in the first place.
