Keep reading log articles about Mastodon being difficult to use. What do you think?
@ChrisReimer In my opinion, it's better. I really like the UI.
@jansegers Thanks for the share. Great article!!

OK here are the aspects that I think are inherently more confusing/difficult than Twitter. Don't get me wrong - I like it a lot, but these cause friction for new users.
1. The need to choose instances quite carefully/understand what instances are and how they can be specialised v 'sign up an Twitter.com'
2. Understanding the practicalities of federation. who actually gets to see my Toots? Whose Toots do I see? This causes confusion
@KeithWin
2a - how do I find a user? What do you mean there are three Angosturas
3. Lack of full-text search. The reliance on people using #hashtags consistently to make their content findable, compared with hashtags being a bit optional silliness in most cases with Twitter. People aren't really using hashtags enough, in my opinion ... myself included.
4. Hashtags not being surfaced in any obvious way with built-in trending lists.
@Angostura I agree with you those points, but I think that things will gradually improve.
What I do like about Mastodon, is that you can have real conversations with real people.
@KeithWin Oh, I agree. I think that Mastodon offers the opportunity for a much richer experience and ecosystem. But it definitely lacks the sheer simplicity that let Twitter take off initially.
@KeithWin no more difficult than Twitter, I think
