@Zaphodbblx Isn't Mastodon just a GNU Social implementation? Wouldn't that mean that the API itself is defined already? The only problem I could see is that someone can instance-hop which "breaks" proofs. Or instances just die.
@Pako I'm specifically talking about this tweet. I have no idea of the technical side of the implementation. from the tweet it seems like they don't want to put in the time in case mastadon goes poof.

@Zaphodbblx I guess if you only want to prove your identity you could post your own proof on here which just isn't checked by keybase, and sign it with your key as usual. Maybe even upload a signed version of that proof on some already-proven platform like GitHub Gist.
@Pako yes. the lame reason why they don't is something like "it's growing so fast what if it changes dramatically" which holds little water because crypto is crypto.
