PorFavorDama @PorFavorDama

I am using postfix on my VPS.
To send verification e-mails from my instance, I need my smtp login and password and also server name ( I assume that is myhost.example).

Where can I find them ? I am really confused...

Can you help me please?

@PorFavorDama Do you not want to use an email service like mailgun?

@oyasumi No, I just wanted to setup my own mail server. :)

@PorFavorDama How has this been going for you? I judt found a Medium article that runs through an Instance setup, step by step. I can send it over if you want.

@v3ritas I just installed postfix and followed this tutorial from digitalocean :

digitalocean.com/community/tut

It works but I need smtp login and pass but I couldn't find it anywhere because there is no file like "sasl_passwd".

Can you send iit to me please? I may try that one too. :)

@v3ritas Oh yea I've been using this already and already deployed my instance but now I need a mail server.

Can't I install a mail server on my current VPS? Where I already deployed my instance?

@PorFavorDama I don't see why not. As long as you have the right ports open, I don't see an issue. Port 25 open?

@v3ritas In that link you sent me, for Mail verification it wants me to enter my smtp login , pw , email and also server.

I have plainlogin thing. It doesn't need a pw or id I guess, as far as I've searched.

Moreover even though I've added some other ports (and services for my SMTP, on my iptables they are not shown and I can not connect to server through those ports.

@PorFavorDama Where are you hosting from? They may have better details about mail & SMTP for your server.

@v3ritas On my firewall, my active zone was public and now for some reason it is disabled and there are no zones activated. How can I active it again? I couldn't find anything about "activating" them again. Should I just add eth0 interface there ?

@v3ritas I think systemctl restart firewalld wipes out all the active zones for firewall-cmd huh?
