looking back, #twitter felt like a bar parking lot after last call. little sense & lots of fighting.

If you say something in French & I reply in English, please don't feel like you need to switch languages to reply back. I understood enough to reply. And I like the multilingualism.

Though if it's obvious I misunderstood something and you think it's a language issue, I wouldn't mind clarification. :)

Here's my prediction for mastodon:

* wave of new users, most will go back to twitter
* enough will stay to keep things interesting and development will proceed apace.
* Valid feedback will be iterated on. instance-independent Identity, federated search, instance migration, performance tuning and bug fixes, etc.
* As it matures, it will grow.

Ultimately, a focus on keeping the community welcoming and easing the barriers to adoption will pay off.
