For Friday I give you my surprise...

THE AWOO!

1 cl ginger infused vodka
4 cl pineapple juice
1-2 cl simple syrup
1 dash Angustura bitters
10 cl nationally appropriate sparkling wine
1 slice fresh pineapple

Combine the vodka, pineapple juice, syrup, and bitters in a shaker and shake with ice. Pour your sparkling wine into a champagne glass. Strain vodka mixture into the glass. (Slowly! Think science fair volcano.)

Garnish with the pineapple slice. Awoo!

Don't worry, non-alcoholics! I made a#cocktailhour surprise for you too!

THE VIRGIN AWOO

6 cl pineapple juice
2 cl ginger beer (a strong brand, like Fever Tree)
10 cl Trocadero* (or ginger ale)

Pineapple slice

Combine pineapple juice, ginger beer, and soda in a glass over ice. Garnish with a slice of fresh pineapple.

Feel healthier and morally superior to the people drinking slutty awoos!

*Trocadero - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trocader

@Elle @muninnherself It took all week to get it right. I knew I had when I said "That's... pretty good. It's... kind of weird." And @TheMysteriousEm said! "Awoo!" in response. XD

@frankiesaxx @muninnherself And then fell over?

(I am imagining @TheMysteriousEm taste-testing several litres of pineapple/vodka/ginger beer cocktail now.... )

@Elle @muninnherself Nah, I'm a non-alcoholic. Only certified to taste virgin awoos. I leave the slutty ones to @frankiesaxx

@TheMysteriousEm @frankiesaxx @muninnherself They both sound lovely... I'll be on the hunt for ginger beer and pineapple tomorrow :D

@frankiesaxx @TheMysteriousEm @muninnherself Did you try different types of ginger beer?

Like, cheap yet readily available supermarket stuff?

@Elle Our supermarket has Fever Tree, so I went with that. Anything with a strong ginger flavor should work. @muninnherself @TheMysteriousEm

@Elle Probably a generic ginger ale soda like Schweppes or Canada Dry would be an acceptable replacement. My other thought was to try one of the nonalcoholic ciders but I haven't tested that. @muninnherself @TheMysteriousEm

@frankiesaxx @TheMysteriousEm @muninnherself Or an alcoholic cider!

It's a plan.

Although I suspect this will taste nothing like the original...

@Elle @muninnherself @frankiesaxx The important part is to enjoy yourself, have plenty of pineapples, and work on awookening your inner partyperson.

@frankiesaxx @TheMysteriousEm @muninnherself I have forked the AWOO - let me present...

THAT'S NOT EVEN AWOO!

1 bottle of flavoured cider
A pineapple

Put some ice in a large glass
Pour in the cider (careful now)
Garnish with pineapple

Lovely.

Ok, so I may need a bit of practice at this... :D social.tchncs.de/media/nY7N32c social.tchncs.de/media/lu8Og8l

@Elle @muninnherself Yeah, maybe you need some practice. Or visit @frankiesaxx for some cocktail schooling. :)

@muninnherself @Elle @TheMysteriousEm the first two are usually by the book. After that, the mixology gets... creative. XD

@frankiesaxx @TheMysteriousEm @muninnherself We had a party once where we made a massive jug of mojitos...

...ended up pure Bacardi with some green stuff in it, which we assumed was mint, but looked more like seaweed.

Quite a few people were ill that night. :D

@TheMysteriousEm @frankiesaxx @muninnherself It would be like a Tibetan pilgrimage to learn from the master.

Only drunk.

@der_jeff @frankiesaxx @TheMysteriousEm @muninnherself It's certainly easier - I'll have to try the original before I make a final assessment

@Elle @frankiesaxx @TheMysteriousEm @muninnherself to be fair, I've not actually tried to make either one, but I'm not a mixed drinks type of person, which is why I like yours the best. 😉
