racism, dogwhistling, concern trolling, etc
it deeply depresses me that me asking if something is troubling or why it's a problem or for an explanation as to why is basically done the same way people wasting time or arguing in bad faith do it. like if i go 'why is master as a git branch name troubling' i'm immediately going in the trash for bad faith arguments when i'm actually trying to learn so i can apply to other things. like is 'master' in other terms bad too? like master chef? i dunno! 1/?
racism, dogwhistling, concern trolling, etc
i can't find any actual articles or people explaining why it's bad so i can or how to look at whether other terms are bad. like i can kind of get that whitelisting/blacklisting is bad but i don't have the tools to know that outside of some news headline like github changing it and others thanking them. i don't know how i'm supposed to be proactive about this. should i just look at anything that could be ambiguous and assume the worst?
