#drugs deaths in #Scotland soar to record level: 1,339 people died in 2020.
Scotland continues to have Europe’s highest per capita rate of drug deaths, at 25.2 fatalities per 100,000 people, more than 3.5 times higher than the rest of the UK. People in the poorest areas were 18 times more likely to die from drugs than those in the wealthiest.#Dundee had the highest rate of deaths, at 43.1 per 100,000 people in 2016-20, followed by #Glasgow at 39.8 & #Inverclyde at 36.7.
@pandora I do hope that Scotland manages to just legislate for better outcomes.
I think the Lord Advocate can de-prioritise drug crimes in-place of ScotParl having devolved powers. It's a small step but a good one.
