@amac Oh actually the username is alway user @ instance, so for me it is (at)utzer(at)social.yl.ms (had to replace the @ with (at), otherwise the username will be replaced and the user mentions will be notified. Not sure how it works on Mastodon, but I guess somehow similar.

Also run your own server if you like!

@amac no not local only, Mastodon ist a GnuSocial Fork I think and GnuSocial was the Statusnet successor I think, all these are still alive. I use Friendica because it federates with all different networks, such as #Diaspora, #Friendica, #Hubzilla, #Redmatrix, #Mastodon, #GnuSocial, #Statusnet and more.
