Twitter shadowban ended after 24 hours, but hey, I have this tab open, so... yo.
So, that's me, that's what I've made and what I do. Curious to see if I can find some cool folks to interact with on here, because this seems like a neat place. Quiet, but neat. #intro

ALL FOR ONE. 30-episode dramedy web series, a queer genderbent adaptation inspired by The Three Musketeers. I co-created this with the brilliant Sarah Shelson, and it's the most fun I've ever had. Making a season two this year. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LugPwttlz_0&t=1s #intro #webseries #LGBT
INHUMAN CONDITION. 33-episode dramatic web series starring Stargate Atlantis' Torri Higginson and The Expanse's Cara Gee. Supernatural patients attend therapy in a world that discriminates against them. This project is my baby. I'm really interested in independent & experimental scripted media - web series, podcasts, digital fiction, transmedia storytelling, VR. #intro
I like genre TV, Marvel movies, international (gay) film, and my reading runs from YA to fantasy to sci-fi to literary fiction, with a healthy sprinkling of nonfiction (usually history). I'm passionate about representation issues in media, particularly (but def not limited to) LGBT rep. #intro
I'm a web series creator, writer, & independent producer. I've written or co-written 100+ episodes of various scripted web series, including Streamy, Digi Award and Canadian Screen Award nominees. I'm hoping to continue making web series (or "digital series"), as well as jumping into television writing within the next few years, universe willing. #intro #screenwriting #webseries
I guess, since I've been away a while, I'll start with the intro...
It's curious, how paralysed I feel on here. On Twitter, I know who's (possibly) listening - and I RT a lot. Here, I'm like...... what does one say to the kinda-equivalent of an empty room? Or at least, a party where I don't really know anybody? Hmm.
Sadly, I don't think I can generate the same kind of thing on Mastodon. I don't know that there are enough folks interested in the same thing I am here, and my habit of posting a lot might just end up clogging the Fed. Sigh.
Usually, that provides a theoretical service to them - starting and managing a conversation on a topic of mutual interest - and to me, by recharging me to help me work. With a shadowban, this whole dynamic is compromised.
I use Twitter as my way of keeping my energy up as I work. Typically I'll toss a discussion question out to my followers - usually about web series or queer rep - and RT, like or respond to em, using that interaction to charge myself up. It's absolutely key to how I work.
Hey Mastodon. I've been gone for a while, but Twitter shadowbanned me so I am back, and in a petty as hell mood too.
Part of why I want to blog again is, I feel like webseries as a world is underexamined. Creators need more resources, viewers need more resources, and the whole mess needs more analysis and exploration.
Thinking of picking up blogging again. I abandoned it a while back out of a feeling I lacked time to do it right and expertise to make my voice one worth listening to. Plus the discipline to actually research my posts. I feel like I could do it right, this time, with more professional work under my belt now.
I'm back again. Whatever I'll say about not knowing what to post on here, it's become part of my work-morning routine...
And, to think less about MY needs for a second, I'm also curious as to what I offer the community here. Whether my differences from the general community here are a setback or an opportunity.
So while I hash that out, it's easier to toot on Mastodon about Mastodon, ha.
Part of my 'why am I here?' question is simple - this is pretty explicitly a Twitter replacement, and I'm personally happy with Twitter. So ninety percent of my natural microblogging would make more sense there - or Tumblr, which I had a passionate two-year affair with that recently petered out.
Hence me thinking hard about what Mastodon's role looks like in my life; for most of you it's probably in place of Twitter, while for me it would be alongside it.
