Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms block accounts without providing any reasons on a regular basis. Sometimes the accounts are gone entirely, sometimes they get shadow bans (restricted visibility) or geoblocks.
I've collected a list of blocks of (mostly eco or leftwing activist) accounts and will post them in this thread. The sources will be in German or English, feel free to ask for translation.
I'm glad for any additions! [1/12]

These are different kinds of blocks that likely have different reasons. What they all have in common is that the operators of the accounts or websites have zero power over this. They complained and were ignored. They couldn't just move their Twitteraccount to Twitter2, because there's no such thing. On Twitter or Facebook, you are at their mercy. They don't have proper moderation and overblocking is a common occurance.

This is why I think federal networks are a good thing. Your instance sucks, has bad moderation, doesn't like you? You can move to another. They don't have the power of the lock-in effect. On Mastodon, you can even take your followers! Also, due to the nature of many smaller instances instead of one big fat platform, the contact to support/administration is usually better as it's usually real persons instead of autofilters and chatbots.
