when yr testing sound bars at the store

they all sounded like shit how can people use this

there was one that sounded alright but it was like 800€

My fucking 250€ bookshelf speakers outperformed that one as well though

I really hope that the store just had a bad selection. My dad wants one but he agrees that the ones we heard were pretty bad

@tom I am probably not too far away in age from your dad πŸ‘΄πŸ½, we were the first generation to be able to afford reasonably decent ready built hi-fi (instead of having to build our own from components in "radio supplies" store).

That said, consider the soundsystem below (built by former engineer from DBP-Telekom) πŸ˜‰ (look at circuit diagrams 4 onwards, the others are other things from old telephone exchanges)

@vfrmedia I think I'll hook them up with a couple of PSB bookshelf speakers, a decent analog amp and a dedicated DAC. That's p much the setup I have (the amp I'm using used to belong to my dad, actually πŸ˜…)

@tom I think this is exactly what the Bavarian chap did, albeit on quite a large scale..

Presumably he lives up some mountain with not too many people around him, and/or his house is the local party house!

(it it is a particularly cool retirement project though, I stumbled across it whilst reading the old telecoms info (I work with modern VOIP stuff for the day job, and some SCADA equipment too).

Was impressed to see a Siemens Logo plc in there.
