@generica there is also a massive discrepancy here (and maybe elsewhere in Europe) between how young and older patients with mental health conditions are treated - its expected/accepted that "old people might get dementia/alzheimers" and the use of the Police is *very* uncommon (unless they are actually missing from home), whereas younger patients especially Gen X/Y are often judged for "bad lifestyle choices" such as drug use (*especially* when the doctors/nurses are the same age!) >>

although much is due to a lack of resources and unwillingness of British citizens and govt to see taxes correctly allocated to the NHS (or only to treat the patients *they* feel are "worthy") - so resources are clearly prioritised towards the "deserving older patients"..

(I work in IT / building services maintenance for a company providing care for elderly/long term patients (part NHS funded) so see a lot of what happens at first hand (at least for top end of age group))
