@masu hopefully the repairs don't take too long...
I learned to do a lot of my own repairs and got the tools as I was an early adopter of #ebikes and local shops didn't initially know how to work on them (my journey to work can be 10-15 km each way!) - and they always seem to have a big backlog of work (even for conventional bikes).
How long does it normally take for bike repairs in DE?
fairly similar to UK although Its only been very recently that cycling for transport (rather than sport or leisure) has become more of a thing in my bit of the UK (the East iof England is only across the water from NL and DE which influence our "street culture" a fair bit)
Although bike repair is not that difficult it does take a bit of time and research (just like computer components, some bike components are regularly upgraded/designs changed, you have to search online for the info!)
@vfrmedia @masu my bike shop is doing small repairs on the fly and when they have the parts in about 24h. When they can schedule, like an inspection, it takes 1-2days.
But most repairs, that don't be too time consuming, I do by myself.
Time is the problem, since some weeks I have chain cleaning and change of brake shoes on my list...
@vilbi @masu which reminds me; I must download the service guides for my disc brakes and suspension forks *before* they need any major maintenance so I am ready for such things as changing brake pads, topping up the hydraulic oil - I have never been able to afford a bike with these until now! (looks like I need some other tools as well for this)
@vfrmedia I left it at the bike shop last night (it's been broken since the weekend) and the guy said it would be ready on Thursday (so, yes, even though I'm complaining, I know it's not really that bad :) ). I've never really waited more than a couple of days although they're also always pretty busy, especially in summer.
I don't have any tools to do repairs at home and I also feel that bike repairs are a thing that I'm willing to spend some money on to not have to do myself :)
