Is this what I think it is (merely wrongly indexed as "microcontroller rather than just a CPU and (allowing for higher clock speeds, being CMOS instead of TTL etc) pin compatible with designs based on previous versions?

@saper I was surprised to see it still available *and* in a standard DIP package in 2017 - hopefully it remains available for whenever I finally get around to building a small system. Thanks for the link, will bookmark that as Mouser seems to also helpfully suggest other useful components that I am likely to need (I guess this must remain quite a popular project!)

@vfrmedia I think #Z80 is still very popular as you suspect.

I am software guy and I have to ask local hackerspaces for help whenever I need a custom connector or something soldered :(
