soweit ich das verstanden habe, laufen viele #linux distros auf bestimmter hardware besser, als auf anderer? #nvidia
gibt es irgendwo eine übersicht oder ein umfassendes verzeichnis, dass das darstellt? auch etwas, in das man einspeisen könnte? zB also: habe hier wlan adapter XY verbaut, #mxlinux hat keinen passenden treiber dafür, lässt sich aber hiermit beheben oder hier downloaden etc?

Hey #linux community, I ask of you all yet again. I wanna know some fun, chaotic, weird, random Linux distros.

For now I've got #nixos, #vanillaos, #funtoo, #mxlinux, #qubes, #antix, & #puppylinux on a quick Google search.

It's been almost 2 years since I touched NixOS so might as well play around with it again.

I'll start googling up some more & I'm also gonna be looking on #distrowatch later but I gotta go eat my midnight snacks, lol.

Again, no #linuxfromscratch / #lfs. That's for laters!

i'd love to know why xfce puts my desktop icons on completely the wrong display and not the primary display, even though i have desktop icons set to display only on the primary display... nothing comes up when i use a search engine either. it's all about how to use more than 1 display on linux, which i already know how to do.

a screenshot of a mx linux desktop showing 2 open windows next to each other. the window on the left is the app "arandr", and the open window on the right shows "desktop settings". the "arandr" window shows 3 displays as a square and 2 rectangles, with the middle display having a thick bar on the bottom line indicating it being the primary display. all of them are horizontal except for the 1 on the right, and all but the 1 on the left are rectangles, which is a square. on the "desktop settings" window, there are numerous settings on either ticked or unticked, but the relevant 1 that's ticked is "show icons only on primary display". all of this indicates that there should be icons in the "top left vertical" behind these windows, yet there's none. there are 2 semi-transparent bars on the top and bottom of the screen. the top 1 is thinner than the bottom 1. the top bar shows a bunch of icons, some computer stats (disk, processor, memory (both actual and swap), and (limited) network usage, battery remaining, and sound level), and the date and time. the bottom bar has the workspace changer, app icons as a dock, internet speed, and temperature readings and fan speed for the computer.

32 bit never looked so good. Huge congrats to the MX team for making something that looks and feels this polished while still being light and minimal.

It's exactly what a simple system should look like IMHO

Ubuntu bleibt das beste Anfänger-Linux

Für meinen Artikel über den Umstieg von Windows 10 auf Linux musste ich mir überlegen, welche Distribution ich empfehlen würde. Denn gerade die Auswahl hält Leute vom Ausprobieren ab. Alles in allem empfehle ich weiterhin Ubuntu. Auch wenn ich es selbst zur Zeit gar nicht benutze.
