Got a bit more work done on Project Jolkswagen! My partner Asenzi helped pull the remaining seat and most of the bolts for the bars (there are still a few which are stuck). I pulled the HVAC controls, stereo, and dash cover.

Next step is to pull the dash frame, and then I can really experience the questionable wiring done by the previous owner(s). Seriously, it's like "electrical fire" was a goal, not a thing to be avoided. We also need a special torx bit for the last few bolts. With all that out, we can start measuring the body pan and figure out what we need to cut off (remember, the goal here is to mate the shell of a 69 VW Type 1 to the 97 Jeep Wrangler frame).

To maximize longevity of my #generator I prepared 1Gal of ethanol free gasoline. Since ethanol will bind with water, all that is needed is some #chemtrails liquid!!

I used a clear fuel resistant container, fabricated a drain nipple and used 0.2Gal of dyed chemtrails. Add 0.5Gal gasoline, mix well and settle for 12 hours. With 10% ethanol, 0.25Gal dyed water will settle and can be drained.

That + fuel stabilizer + marvel oil is good for at least 12 months.

Is there a corner of fedi out there that would be down to help me track down a weirdly hard to find discontinued car part? Any hashtags I could try?

I'm not having any luck locally - all the ones I've found so far are rusted out, which is the problem ours has. If we don't find this part it'll fail inspection next June and we'll lose the car & don't have income to get a new one

It's the right rear upper spring mount bracket for a 2001 PT Cruiser. The little bowl lookin piece of metal that the suspension spring sits in. As far as I can tell this part didn't change between the PT revisions so even if it's from a newer PT it might work

Doesn't have to be 100% mint condition, just not danger-rusted

We're willing to pay for it, though it may take a little time to pull everything together

I dunno, but hopefully about to find out. Misfire codes on cylinders 2 & 3, consumes oil and coolant.

Topped the coolant, about to change the oil, then will check compression and change the spark plugs. See what we can see..

Is there an #automotive or #mechanic mastodon? Because I'm spooked by my car this evening and making a big drive tomorrow. My Peugeot 206 made an audible plink sound (and feeling) when I was operating the clutch. I could *feel* something at the clutch that felt like a bolt had plinked out of the pedal. But when I looked I couldn't see or feel anything out of the ordinary. Any ideas? I am driving around a thousand kilometers this week in two big 500k drives.
