Hey everyone, we just released version 0.13.0 of Ibis our #IRCv3 library that we've built for the #IRC support in @pidgin 3!

The big feature in this release is that we're parsing formatting and making it available to users of the library so they can display formatted messages. See the screen shot for what that looks like in Pidgin 3 experimental 2!!

So @pidgin 3.0 Experimental 2 is due out on Monday and we realized we could probably sneaking message formatting in for #IRCv3 in the last few days.

This still needs some work, but check out the Pidgin 2 vs 3 handling of message formatting...

I thought we fixed the italics stuff in Pidgin 2 awhile, but apparently not.

Anyways this is all spec complaint per modern.ircdocs.horse/formatting

But I can’t help noticing that the inverse correlation between how Americans voted in 2024 and their real interests makes it clear that two of the main factions in the intra-party debate about Democrats’ next moves are talking nonsense. On one side there are relatively conservative Democrats and Democratic-leaning pundits telling us that the party must move to the center. But when it comes to Social Security, which is really important to most Americans, Democrats — who want to preserve the program — are very much in the center, while Republicans — who want to kill it — are extremists. Yet last November, the voters who have most to lose from this extremism didn’t notice. On the other side there are progressives who argue that Democrats are in trouble because they abandoned the working class. But even if you think that Democrats have been too friendly toward globalization, or deregulation, or low corporate taxes, the Democratic Party has been far more favorable to workers than the Republicans. The Biden administration was especially pro-worker. But working-class voters didn’t notice. What all this says is that the priority for Democrats isn’t to pursue whatever you think is a better policy mix. It is to get voters to notice.

I wanted to play around with #WebRTC. But then I realised my #webserver I rent at Hetzner, is just a simple one. That means no #Websockets for me, as a signaling service. So there were two options: rent something more expensive or find another way for signaling.
Guess what I chose ...
Well thankfully I quickly discovered this:

And building on that, I've now got a simple text connection working now - after about 2,5 hours.
Also I got frustrated with chrome - I guess I just won't support that in my projects anyway, so it's fine if my #JS doesn't run there ...
