In response to our reporter going undercover at #NigelFarage’s #Reform party rally we had this reply:

"The 'left' needs to admit that immigration is a problem. NOT immigrants themselves, but immigration.

With the current lack of investment in public services then continuous immigration becomes a problem. With no 'leftist' party stating that immigration is a problem then that leaves a vacuum for Farage and his party to thrive unchallenged in."

Unfortunately populist politicians are calling the tune - be they Labour, Tory or Reform. Humanity, and even simple rationality is going by the way in a wish by many British politicians to be seen to be 'doing something'.

"A Reform UK candidate has been suspended from the party after posts on social media revealed his support for serial sex abuser Jimmy Savile."

Still not seeing why I should vote Reform. Ok they suspended this creep but fact he was even announced as a candidate is ick.

A quotation from Teddy Roosevelt

All men in whose character there is not an element of hardened baseness must admit the need in our public life of those qualities which we somewhat vaguely group together when we speak of “reform,” and all men of sound mind must also admit the need of efficiency.
There are, of course, men of such low moral type, or of such ingrained cynicism, that they do not believe in the possibility of making anything better, or do not care to see things better. There are also men who are slightly disordered mentally, or who are cursed with a moral twist which makes them champion reforms less from a desire to do good to others than as a kind of tribute to their own righteousness, for the sake of emphasizing their own superiority. From neither of these classes can we get any real help in the unending struggle for righteousness.
There remains the great body of the people, including the entire body of those through whom the salvation of the people must ultimately be worked out. All these men combine or seek to combine in varying degrees the quality of striving after the ideal, that is, the quality which makes men reformers, and the quality of so striving through practical methods — the quality which makes men efficient. Both qualities are absolutely essential. The absence of either makes the presence of the other worthless or worse.

"It is infuriating to see another Labour government seek to appease a rightwing voter base by reinforcing the “tough on crime” doom loop that has gridlocked our justice system for the past 30 years. It was New Labour’s punitive posturing that drove up the prison population by 40% between 1997 and 2010"

Wer ohne Überweisung zum Facharzt will, soll draufzahlen

@ChrisMayLA6 @Thebratdragon 2/ The law and the judiciary are 'obliged' to disregard the moral or ethical reasons behind a 'gathering of 6 persons or more for the purposes of political protest'. How they'd have dealt with the anti-apartheid rallies and the poll tax protest doesn't bear thinking about. We are visibly moving towards a totalitarian state. #Farage and #Reform must be rubbing their hands with glee.
