I am using a Surface Go as a daily driver. I installed Linux @
fedora@fosstodon.org on it. I want to embrace the touchscreen and the pen, but this machine is increasingly locking up. I
really don't want to reinstall Windows on it. I have a hunch that 4gb of RAM isn't enough. I
really don't want to buy yet another laptop. So, I'm thinking about an experiment.
I wonder if I could offload 90% of the applications I've installed and only use it as a writing tablet. Then, create a desktop in the
cloud. Maybe I could install LXD on my @
yunohost@mastodon.social server, and then install a distro with DE. Or maybe I could create a stationary workstation at home and install #
RustDesk and remote into it.
I like the idea of the cloud desktop on Yunohost because I could have my own desktop on any machine.
The caveat to that is that I may need a more powerful server. Which I would rather invest in the server over another workstation or new laptop.
