Exactly.  #Elmo is carrying out "A controlled demolition" of #X (formerly #Twitter.)

I (and others) have been saying this since early 2023.
However, many saw (and still see) it as a "conspiracy theory". Alas, it clearly isn't, Nicole.

Just so you know: Of the more than 1300 verified journalists on #Mastodon in my table, less than half has been active since the beginning of the year. Only about 200 post daily:

Remember when #ElonMusk said he wanted #X to be more PayPal-like? New docs show this plan is still on.

"In the first six months of 2023 [...] X's revenue fell by nearly 40 percent from the same period the prior year. The company brought in $1.48 billion during that time period. Furthermore, X lost $456 million in the first quarter of 2023."

While not a very well-known account, I tried the same thing for a couple of weeks, trying to get people to migrate to #Mastodon.

The #Post strategy, as I remember it, was quite different. The wanted a centralized platform earn royalties for professional writers, was my take on the #DeadBirdSite back then.

This is different. OFC #Elmo would block that!--This would have destroyed the value of the #Twitter acquisition--virtually global reach/a...

Whatever mind-altering drugs Elon Musk is on, they don't appear to be helping him be a better person.
Also, I'm open to "blackmail with money" — the more the better — if that's what they're now calling getting paid to do your job and recognising your core business functions.

If you take the creation date of the accounts following @heiseonline, there is a clear peak in the 4th quarter of 2022 (#TwitterTakeover), since then, there is visible stability: More than 5000 follower where created in each quarter.

If you just take the months and limit them to 2022 and 2023, you see the big peak in November (roughly a third was created then) and the slowdon in summer 2023.

Two prime examples are the #TwitterTakeover, with direkt investments by #SaudiArabia, #Qatar + #China, as well as indirect financing through ads by #Russia.
Another example is the #CCP's propaganda and #PsyOps platform #TikTok.

Despite proclamations from X CEO Linda #Yaccarino that usage of the social network was at an all-time high this summer, a new report is throwing cold water
