#mad ? #language #linux I ordered and paid for a #Linux starter pack on a #USB stick. They have sent me 5 cds/DVDs. I said on my order, "I do not have a cd drive on any of my kit". ? do people not read anymore? & no, won't be trying to transfer the files on the cd's onto a USB stick. Experience tells me i. this won't work ii. it will make the cd's unreadable on anything but the original device. & please don't suggest downloading from the #Linux site. Tried 3 times, each time, 'fail to install'.

Dass diese Bewertung vom #BSI noch von vor dem #38c3 stammt, hat einen schalen Beigeschmack.
Ist das #Sicherheitsniveau als positiv zu bewerten? - Schwierig.
Ist es gestiegen? - Vermutlich.
#Betriebssysteme und administrative Struktur von #Kundensysteme ist im Schnitt wahrscheinlich besser geworden (wie auch die Inflation und die Versionsnummern von z.B. TLS), aber:
1. Entsperrung von #Praxissoftware und -Rechner erfolgt immer noch gerne mit 3-6 stelligen Passwörtern, die gerne dem Standardbenutzer des Arbeitsplatzes entspricht, statt z.B. personalisierte #Hardware-Dongle + Pin.
2. Es gibt weiterhin offen zugängliche, nicht gesperrte #USB- / #Netzwerk-Ports
3. Das Backend von Praxis- und Medizingerätesoftware, ist durch Passwörter, falls überhaupt, geschützt, die in jeder kleinen Rainbowtabelle stehen, wenn nicht gar sogar in einer beiliegenden TXT-Datei.
4. Dienstleister setzen fragwürdige #Fernwartungssoftware ein, die durchläuft.

But for now, since it's only one now, it will be used to feed data into #flightradar24 and #flightaware Plan is to get another one and use a node selector so the ultrafeeder demands a node with an #RTL-SDR connected to a #USB power

The new "toy" arrived today, so now all four #USB ports on the node time are in use 
. In the long term, this will help build a cluster autoscaler handler/operator/thingy.

@Lazarou I assume you have the work around? Save image 1st then 'smoothly' do the Whatsapp bit. Yes, a lot of social media is going tghe way of the dodo bcause of lack of functionality. I prefer Fedora in many ways but this machine runs several instances of #Klipper in containers.
The containers themselves are based on Debian and... wow... there is so much pain when it comes to dealing with USB in containers and it compounds when the distro host and the base images approach things differently.
A mess of systemd units and fragile fixes in the container and host just aren't worth it.
Found the drake version of this on LinkedIn and decided to remake it with a less toxic character.
I'd like to take a moment to appreciate #USB power delivery.
As a kid, I would have killed to be able to run my #GameBoy off my parents' car engine during road trips. To say nothing of the #GameGear's infamously high power draw.
Modern phones and portable game consoles can do just that, no problem. And thanks to that, they can get away with having glorious high-resolution emissive screens and fast CPUs. The idea of the Game Gear is now perfectly viable. Awesome.

I want to throw out a big #HotDamn to 20 years of #softwaredevelopment . I recently bought a used #Behringer #BCF2000 which had a #SysEx editor last developed in 2004 in #Java available for download from the official website. I downloaded the software to my #Fedora system and it recognized the device over the modern #Linux #USB interface and worked like a champ.
Well done, 20 years of #software develoment and backwards compatibility!

@buttplugio When Apple had the iMac in all those rainbow colors there was an "iBrator" spoof that sadly I cannot find anymore on the modern web. It was advertising USB-controlled vibrators in 5 tasty colors that could be daisy chained. I guess this was 1999? Anyone still have a reference to that? #apple #ibrator #usb #1999

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh, ich dreh' durch. Der USB-#Netzteiladapter für den #Shelly-Sensor hat eine #USB-2.0-Micro-Buchse. Das war gar nicht ausgewiesen bzw. ersichtlich. Natürlich bin ich von USB-C ausgegangen und habe dafür ein Flachbandkabel verlegt. Das kann doch alles nicht wahr sein.

Ich habe beschlossen, den #Temperatursensor direkt auf #Netzbetrieb umzustellen. Wer weiß, wie lange die nächste #Batterie hält. Das ist ja quasi ein Geldgrab. Glücklicherweise gibt es einen Adapter für ein #USB-Netzteil. Den wollte ich eigentlich erst nächstes Jahr kaufen, nachdem die Batterie ein Jahr lang gehalten hat. HAAAA HAAAA.
