The Hungarian Presidency's last-ditch effort to pass a problematic Child Sexual Abuse Regulation text backfired today.
Blocking countries delivered strong statements, citing:
Risks of indiscriminate surveillance;
Legal flaws;
Technical concerns (e.g., client-side scanning).
With the Polish Presidency unlikely to advance the file, the proposal faces serious hurdles unless overhauled.
This is proof that persistent advocacy works.

Switzerland issues a preliminary report on the compatibility of the European Child Sexual Abuse regulation and Swiss law.
The report expresses concerns that client-side content scanning obligations are likely violating Swiss law.
Additional measures will need to be put in place to protect Swiss Internet users if such regulation is passed by the EU
