@mattgrayyes the sheer fact there's neither a "#DeclineAll" button that declines all nor that they don't interpret a #DoNotTrack-#Cookie as a 'decline all' should be illegal!

@pilfer @CStamp @torproject I.just refuse to use sites that don't offer a "decline all" out of principle, since #DoNotTrack is set!
Firefox 135 abandonne Do Not Track, comme prévu http://dlvr.it/THnJGv #Firefox135 #DoNotTrack
@peaceout @br_data
@LilahTovMoon shit like this should be illegal.
I want respecting "#DoNotTrack" to become legally mandatory in #Germany so everything but #Login-#Cookies are illegal!
#Firefox ditches #DoNotTrack because nobody was listening anyway
When #Firefox135 is released in February, it'll ship with one less feature: Mozilla plans to remove the Do Not Track toggle from its #Privacy and Security settings.
Few websites actually respect the option, says #Mozilla https://www.theregister.com/2024/12/12/firefox_do_not_track/
Firefox elimina la función Do Not Track... afortunadamente #Firefox #DoNotTrack

One of the best lies of the anti-privacy internet is "We do not know how to react if someone's browser signals us 'Do Not Track'"—I mean, could this be more literal?
It's like a bank robber saying "What do you mean: 'Don't take the money'? I don't understand. What do you expect me to do? Work? That's ridiculous! Best I can do is taking your money"
@amin @Spud_Coolzip @jstatepost @VisualStuart Whilst not *the* default, you can get extensions that help, at least on Firefox.
I *think* it's "ClearURLs" tidying up YouTube (e.g. right click in side bar of recommendations) links for me. I also have "google-no-tracking-url" for Google search results.
"Do Not Track" was a web standard created in 2009, and Firefox was the first browser to adopt the feature. However, Websites, routinely ignore it, and in some cases it can actually reduce your privacy.
So Firefox is now dropping the features, and encourages users to look at other ways to protect their privacy, including Enhanced Tracking Protection, Website containers, And others that actually work.
FOSS NEWS
Mozilla removes Do Not Track setting from Firefox, because most websites don't respect it, in fact, it often makes fingerprint more unique, because most users don't have it enabled; “Tell websites not to sell or share my data” setting is recommended instead as it's more enforcable by law:

PeerTube launches limited mobile apps with local account support, available on Google Play and App Store, with F-Droid release planned:

(Wow my latest video got "featured" on one of the screenshots in the official announcement! I'm famous, guys! I'm famous! lol)
(Jokes aside, it's good that PeerTube finally has its own mobile app, it can potentially get more people using the platform, in this mobile-oriented digital landscape. The local account thing is pretty interesting, I've only seen that feature in third-party YouTube/PeerTube clients like NewPipe and FreeTube. PeerTube is probably the first video sharing platform implementing it in its official app.)

Unelma paremmasta yksityisyydensuojasta ei koskaan lyönyt itseään läpi - Firefox lopettaa Do Not Track -toiminnon
Do Not Track -tekniikasta piti tulla yksityisyyttä tarjoava, helppokäyttöinen ratkaisu. Kaikki selaimet tukivat sitä, mutta koska mikään laki ei vaatinut mainostajia tukemaan sitä, siitä ei koskaan ollut juurikaan mitään hyötyä.
https://dawn.fi/uutiset/2024/12/12/do-not-track-toiminto-poistuu-firefoxista
Back where it started: “Do Not Track” removed from #Firefox after 13 years
#privacy #dnt #donottrack
Après Safari, Firefox va abandonner à son tour l’option Do Not Track http://dlvr.it/TGlHCX #Firefox #DoNotTrack
@karlauerbach nodds in agreement
It's high time @mozilla / @mozillaofficial / #Mozilla just hands over #Firefox to @torproject / #TorProject so they can make #TorBrowser the new #upstream for #Gecko.
And the only "technically necessary" are #login - #cookies (and like #session-cookies)!
It wasn’t useless… it helped delay any meaningful privacy regulation by a good ten years by perpetuating the myth of “self regulation.”
PS. Don’t look too closely at who was behind it to begin with if you don’t want to be disappointed yet again.
