Anyone recommend any chess games for beginners that will run on Linux? Trying to learn, and it seems when I google chess for Linux it comes up with these complicated installs the require chess engines and shit.. I just want a stand alone game that is good for beginners.

Hello fellow #Linux Users, I have been a long time arch user, and was thinking about trying a new distro. I primarily use my system for sysadmin work in the day, and then gaming at night.
What distro do you use? and any pros/cons of that distro?
I bought a brand new 4TB NVME m.2 drive and its just itching to have a new distro installed on it :)
Can someone look at this proton log and tell me why my damn game wont load? It was loading fine then all of a sudden stopped. So frustrating.
Also please boost so others will see it. Usually I can see what is wrong while look at the logs, but this one has me perplexed.

@dryak Well, @EU_Commission, I think a lot of #linuxgamers would be seriously interested if you could clarify the language: does "right to (...) play them on any device using any operating system." includes #Linux (e.g. SteamOS on a #Steamdeck, or #Ubuntu on a laptop +/- an extra layer such as Wine or Proton)?
If that's the case that would awesome for supporting operating systems diversity (and open-source in general).
Damn it, Starwars Jedi: Survivor stopped working for me after the last patch. Any other #Linux #LinuxGamers run into this? is there a fix?
Also folks say they are able to run farcry 6 right out of the box, and I have not been able to get it to run.

This might sound like a weird opinion, but now that #Valve and the wider games industry is putting so much effort into #Proton and #Linux support, it's actually a good thing to have some games that don't run very smoothly at launch.
While it's annoying for #LinuxGamers, it's going to help developers of Proton and of big game engines to clean up messy edge cases and improve performance and compatibility for everyone.
Hi #linuxgamers! Looking for a new laptop, to do development and a bit of gaming. From what I understand, Intel GPU are vastly under-powered and NVidia GPU laptops are still a pain to run smoothly on Linux. Am I right to assume the safest bet is an AMD GPU?

I still think that the multiplayer in this game far exceeds the multiplayer in more modern #games. The medic, field ops, and covert ops classes give it a degree of depth that the other FPS games lack in their multiplayer.

Has #Stadia encouraged anyone to leave Windows and shift to #Linux?
I know lots of people use Windows for gaming. People may prefer Linux for dev reasons and for customizablility. But now with Stadia being cloud based and in the browser, has it pushed anyone to leave Windows knowing that they can now game on the cloud?
