By "#usable" I mean that you can #browse #profiles (instead of just beeing presented with what the #algorithm thinks you might be interested in, is profile text centred (and not picture centred), #search for #profile #text items, just be able to (send and) receive #messages even if I have not "liked back", ... -- #alovoa actually is pretty #unusable as I find it)

Interesting. Had my first (that I'm aware of) interaction with Apple's AI within their Messages app. It briefly summarized the last bit of the conversation and displayed it as a sub-head in the conversation list on the left.
I found it a bit weird. Sure, that person may have said that (in more words), but I'd prefer to read the text and make the judgement myself, rather than an AI summing it up for me in fewer words, before I even get a chance to read it and make up my own mind. Nuance was lost. Context lost.
Heh, and in this case, I guess the AI lost. (summary box unchecked).
Google Messages is the default SMS app for most Android phones. It's packed full of neat features. One of those simple, handy features you may not have known about is auto-deletion for one-time passwords (OTPs).

My cat walked on my iPad and somehow managed to mark all recent messages as unread. This was about 15 messages across numerous chats, both groups and individuals. I have no idea how she did this, but it could be a useful feature. I’ve asked the cat for an explanation but she refuses to talk. #iPad #Messages #CatsOfMastodon #Cats
I haven't used #SMS messages since like 5 years. Since today I remove #Whatsapp I decided to try it out again.
First thing after I opened the "#messages" app it shown me that it's actually #Samsung application and it's not default one on my phone. Default apparently was #Google one. So I opened it.
First it asked me to upload photo, then some description and the to suck it's dick or whatever.
Naturally I opened #FDroid and installed some #FOSS alternative but WHAT THE HELL.
I just found out with a keyboard connected in Messages, on iOS, you can press Option + Up / Down to cycle through previous messages you've sent and either send again or modify and send again / copy etc.
There are only a few people that I need to regularly text message that haven't moved to Signal - I'm hoping at some point I can persuade them on there.
In the meantime, I've installed Textra to replace Google's Messages app. I'm not bothered about security with this one - it's only SMS.
The Google Messages app now lets users send texts to themselves via RCS. The app previously restricted users to SMS when texting themselves. You can now send long text messages, high-quality photos/videos, and more to yourself.
