I got myself a new 5x5, the YJ MGC magnetic model, I had not gotten myself a new cube since like 2019 and this thing moves faster than my 3x3 somehow. To be fair I have to clean it up, it's been a while.

Sub 3 minutes, I had not practiced in ages, I feel like I can be sub 2:30 today with how dirty my solves are right now

does anyone have recommendations for a place to buy custom stickers that isn't amazon? an etsy store maybe?

context: i was gifted one of these "impossible" cubes where the tiles change colors depending on the viewing angle with parallax barriers. a cute gimmick but not really that fun for more than a few seconds. the mechanism itself is actually pretty nice though, which surprised me compared to my past experience with rubik's brand, so i'd like to make it usable.

I saw a student of mine over Zoom fiddling with a #speedcube. This has inspired me to relearn some #speedcubing!

Goals:
1. Relearn #cfop method with 2-look PLL algorithms (all previous stages I still remember intuitively).
2. Reach consistent sub 1 minute average solve times.
3. Get some of Mastodon curious with the fancy above terminology.
4. Toot a video once 2 has been achieved. Hoping to inspire others!

A friend gave me a new #rubikscube. It's a Weilong WR M 2021 and it is wonderful. I've never paid more than about US$6 for a cube and this one retails for about US$30. It's amazing what you get for that money. It turns so smoothly and corner cutting is incredible, even when the alignment is nearly 45°. This is a #speedcube, and while I'll never be one of those people who can solve in under 10 seconds, I can fully appreciate the quality of this.
