The #bookshop kobo.com sells lots of non-DRM eBooks!
However, they also sell lots of DRM eBooks, all mixed together with the non-DRM, and no filter to sort them out
This makes it very difficult to look for non-DRM books on #Kobo.
So, to solve this problem switching.social presents the Unofficial Kobo Search page, which lets you find non-DRM books available on your country's Kobo site:

Any feedback very welcome.
Reclaiming RSS
“Before Twitter, before algorithmic timelines filtered our reality for us, before surveillance capitalism, there was RSS: Really Simple Syndication … As we move away from the centralised web to the peer web, it’s time to rediscover, re-embrace, and reclaim RSS.”
I love this project: a riverbed in Amsterdam was drained and the ~700,000 found objects dating from the 1300s to present were photographed and presented online:
Christina Angelopoulus collects the problems and more problems of the Directive of #Copyright in the Digital Single Market, just "approved" by the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament in an extensive article in the Kluwer Copyright Blog: http://copyrightblog.kluweriplaw.com/2018/06/29/axel-vosss-juri-report-article-13-violate-internet-users-fundamental-rights/

The great @milan receives 18,10 Euro donations per week via Liberapay. In my opinion, this is not an appropriate appreciation of his work. Please think about donating at least 1 Euro per week to support him. It shouldn't be hard to get the 18,10 to 30 Euro: https://liberapay.com/Milan
I want to love the fediverse, but I'm still looking for the place where open-source techies hang out. As always, the hard part with federated systems is discovery, though https://fediverse.network/ does help quite a bit.

Can someone recommend a computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS) that runs on Linux? Preferably FOSS.

Hello everyone, I'm a librarian in Berlin; professionally interested in #Koha ILS for the past couple of years and personally interested in all sorts of self-hosted #FOSS. Social science research bridges my home and work life.
Hello world! I'm an assistant professor at #McGill who studies the #sociology of computer science education. I focus on gender issues in #compsci and policies in CS education that lead to gender inequality. #introductions
a not so good photography from within a car to catch the beautiful view in Brecon Beacons National Park, South Wales http://www.breconbeacons.org/
It was such an amazing journey and I really loved Wales in May / June. Although not predictable, the weather turned out as really nice in the end.
Annoying tech issue of the day:
What does one do when one has an aging, huge LTR Linux installation which would be a REAL drag to upgrade or reinstall right now, yet is subject to increasing lack of support for packages no longer working due to library obsolescence? I’m not often geeky enough to debug, find, and upgrade dependencies myself every time, and need this instance to work a while more yet.
Please try to stop making bleeding edge libraries mandatory, devs? Please? 🙇🏽♀️

Hey all, this is my #introductions post! I'm Ezra Sloane (@fir because it's a three letter word - I thought having a three-letter tag would be cool). I like to read #comics and #graphicnovels... a lot. I'm actually learning #art specifically so I can draw my own, but I'm not quite there yet.
I like reading #specfic and #weirdfiction and I sometimes also write it, though I haven't posted any stories anywhere. I also really like #tabletop rpgs and #worldbuilding custom settings for them.
