To honor the yearly IRC festival, I did finally find some time to read throu the resp. IRC RFCs and IRCv3 specs: https://ircv3.net/
Reading the #matrix spec first seems very similar, but they really seem to fix many shortcomings of IRC:
OTOH: I thing this can probably be used to bypass many firewalls, SSH over SCTP is already helpful in some cases: http://0x27.me/ssh/sctp/privacy/security/evasion/2015/07/27/SSH-Over-SCTP/
Things that are just wrong and sad:
"SCTP over UDP"
why can't we have nice things?

Underrated meme in 2020:
"When you find out your daily lifestyle is called quarantine."
"We didn't call it fuzzing back in the 1950s, but it was our standard practice to test programs by inputting decks of punch cards taken from the trash.
We also used decks of random number punch cards. We weren't networked in those days, so we weren't much worried about security, but our random/trash decks often turned up undesirable behavior.
Every programmer I knew used the trash-deck technique."
