Yehor 🇺🇦<p>I just realized I could move my calendar and contacts from <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fastmail</span></a> to <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/SynologyNAS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SynologyNAS</span></a> now. Paepke<p>TIL or relearned that the <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Cyrus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cyrus</span></a> mailserver I use for decades can also act as <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/caldav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>caldav</span></a> and <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/carddav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>carddav</span></a> server. Joners<p><a href="https://social.jone.rs/tags/grapheneos" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#grapheneos</a> war bisher die einfachste Custom ROM Installation. Meine Google Kalender &amp; Kontakte liegen jetzt auf </span><a href="https://social.jone.rs/tags/baikal" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#baikal</a> und werden mit <a href="https://social.jone.rs/tags/CalDAV" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#CalDAV</a> + <a href="https://social.jone.rs/tags/CardDAV" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#CardDAV</a> synchronisiert.

Michael Gurski<p>For reasons that may be affected by Google Calendar dropping a lot of holidays and such recently, I'm looking for a good <a href="https://strangeplace.me/tags/CalDAV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CalDAV</span></a> <a href="https://strangeplace.me/tags/Android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Android</span></a> app that, ideally, has as little friction as possible (for spousal acceptance factor). I don't really care about <a href="https://strangeplace.me/tags/WebDAV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WebDAV</span></a> support, but <a href="https://strangeplace.me/tags/CardDAV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CardDAV</span></a> would be a nice bonus. Cross-syncing may be a good thing, at least pulling from Google. Play Store or F-Droid, and I'm not sure I care about a 1 time purchase with the amount of Play Store credit I'm not using.</p>

Hubzilla/streams provide the option to encrypted massages by a phrase <span class="">#^</span><a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/channel/chris?mid=5dcdc6d3-6717-44a0-be28-33388658a95e" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://im.allmendenetz.de/channel/chris?mid=5dcdc6d3-6717-44a0-be28-33388658a95e</a> and if you share a file by a link also this link will be encrypted but the file itself will not be encrypted.<br><br>There is a tool which can help to also encrypted the files and it is called cryptomator:<br><br><span class="">#^</span><a class="" href="https://cryptomator.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://cryptomator.org/</a><br><br>The Windows, macOS and Linux version are free, the Android and IOS version do cost:<br><br><span class="">#^</span><a class="" href="https://cryptomator.org/pricing/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://cryptomator.org/pricing/</a><br><br>So on the desktop you can start using cryptomator without hesitating today - install it and give it a try.<br><br>There is a good documentation also: <span class="">#^</span><a class="" href="https://docs.cryptomator.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://docs.cryptomator.org/</a><br><br>Click the "Add" button for adding a new "vault"<br><br>and follow the process <br><span class="">#^</span><a class="" href="https://docs.cryptomator.org/en/latest/desktop/adding-vaults/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://docs.cryptomator.org/en/latest/desktop/adding-vaults/</a><br><br>As "storage location" pick a folder in your Hubzilla/streams cloud. <br>To get there you need a WebDAV connection I hope you have set up by now. If not go for it now:<br><br><span class="">#^</span><a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/wiki/chris/WebDAV" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://im.allmendenetz.de/wiki/chris/WebDAV</a><br><br>After you set up a vault and unlocked it with the password you defined you can start uploading files in the open Vault folder. In the cloud this files are always encrypted - no way to read them... but from your PC you can lock and unlock them with the help of cryptomator.<br><br>So this is the way to save encrypted files in your Hubzilla/streams cloud for your self.<br><br>If you share the URL of the folder and the password of the vault to a friend of you he/she may oben and see files if he/she uses an own cryptomator installation on their PC and by adding the existing vault to which you posted the URL. The downside is that you have to share also the WebDAV credentials to the cloud folder first. So better set up an extra Hubzilla/streams account for this all and share just with friends you can trust.<br><br>So you just have to find a secure way to exchange the password and you will get with the Hubzilla/streams cloud and the external cryptomator installation a very secure way to exchange all kind of privat files. Any time you upload a new file you may write your friend a notification post over the Fediverse. That's it.<br><br>Do you find this extended use of a Hubzilla/streams channel helpfull?<br><br>In the next post i will show how with the help of WebDAV you can use a Hubzilla/streams channel very easily as a "read it later" app like you may know from Pocket or Wallabag.<br><br>STAY TUNED and keep following<br><br>#<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=WebDAV" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">WebDAV</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=DAV" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">DAV</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=CardDAV" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">CardDAV</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=CalDAV" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">CalDAV</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=Hubzilla" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Hubzilla</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=Streams" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Streams</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=Howto" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Howto</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=Cloud" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Cloud</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=E2EE" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">E2EE</a> #<a class="" href="https://im.allmendenetz.de/search?tag=Fediverses" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Fediverses</a>

Tim Berners-Lee's original vision of the Web involved a medium for both reading and writing. In fact, Berners-Lee's first web browser, called WorldWideWeb, could both view and edit web pages; but, as the Web grew, it became a read-only medium for most users. Whitehead and other like-minded people wanted to transcend that limitation.</blockquote> <span class="">#^</span><a class="" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebDAV" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebDAV</a><br><br>STAY TUNED and keep following
Taiki<p>I’ve not come across any simple form of CardDAV and CalDAV. I already have Nextcloud.
