IshambardWhilst I gave the Mario Kart Double Dash staff ghosts a lot of hate, and they deserve it, doing the Time Trial Achievements for Mario Kart DS was a much weirder experience.The short tracks proved to be a lot harder, with Yoshi Falls taking me a good FOUR attempt. Donut Plains was also similar. This is in contrast to the near hours I had to put into Daisy Cruiser on Double Dash.Heck on DK Pass, I actually hit one of the giant snowballs and still beat the target time.So here's the thing. DS wants to use certain characters and certain karts, which is fine. Varies up the gameplay.But below is an example from Waluigi Pinball. I feel I shouldn't be beating the target time by nearly 10 seconds. IshambardSo, an old picture of an old accomplishment, but i wanted to talk about this. Less the accomplishment and more the thing it relates to. <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/MarioKartDS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MarioKartDS</a> had a really interesting idea that I am surprised hasn't carried over to later <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/MarioKart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MarioKart</a> games. The single-player mission mode is essentially a series of driving challenges. Collect coins, drive through checkpoints, achieve X amount of power slides in a lap, etc. Each level also has a pretty novel boss fight, like pushing a Bully out of an arena.It is all quite creative and fun stuff, providing a means for players to develop skills that could help in the grand prix, other than doing time trials.Though it will forever bother me that Mario Kart DS has 7 levels of missions, why not go up to at least 8? And call them worlds! But I digress.Bottom line, I would love to see this mode make a come back at some point. IshambardSo, just an observation for the Mario Kart DS <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/RetroAchievements" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RetroAchievements</a> The time trial achievements are VERY generous so far, which is a relief having done the Double Dash time trial achievements.To put it into context. Luigi Circuit on Double Dash asks for a time of 1:26:277 whilst the same track on DS is 1:36:939.Sure, the games play differently, Double Dash is a faster game than Mario Kart DS, but a time difference is over 10 seconds.Double Dash asks for near perfectly driving, whilst the last time trial I did on DS was Delfino Square, and I kept messing up the off-road shortcut, but still managed to come in about 3 seconds under the target time.There is still plenty of time for me to get angry at this <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/MarioKart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MarioKart</a>, so fear not.<a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/NintendoDS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#NintendoDS</a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/MarioKartDS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MarioKartDS</a>
