Paul Wilde :dontpanic2: :smeghead: :archlinux: :freebsd:<p>OK OK OK OK OK OK OK... I've been trying <a href="https://notnull.space/tags/riverwm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>riverwm</span></a> a little more seriously over the last few days and... you know what? It's pretty damn good.<br>If my opinion means anything to anyone, <a href="https://notnull.space/tags/river" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>river</span></a> is becoming a pretty decent <code>bspwm</code> stand-in for wayland I think.<br>Still alpha, a way to go yet, but the plans for v0.3.0 are looking good (rules, one-shots, ssd/csd, ... code move to Codeberg).<br>It may actually be the WM that makes me stop moaning about <a href="https://notnull.space/tags/wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Wayland</span></a> so much, which is quite a statement coming from me!</p><p>(Disclaimer: I still, obviously, adore <code>bspwm</code> and have no plans on ditching it any time soon, but I like to have fallbacks/future alternatives planned for in advance!)</p><p><a href="https://notnull.space/tags/tilingwindowmanagers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tilingWindowManagers</span></a></p>
Professor Code<p>I've used a variety of traditional desktop environments ever since I started using Linux, but I've never really had a reason to try any tiling window managers.</p><p>Now that Wayland is here, I am really interested in trying out either Hyprland or Sway. I’ve been thinking about trying one out, &amp; Matt’s demonstration certainly helped. His use of workspaces instead of windows is similar to what I’ve been trying out in GNOME, just with keyboard shortcuts instead of trackpad gestures… 🤔</p><p>Think I might have to throw <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Manjaro</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/i3wm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>i3wm</span></a> on a spare SSD and give it a whirl. </p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>macOS</span></a> used to be the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/DarkSide" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DarkSide</span></a>.
