Sharon Machlis<p>How do you do &lt;some thing&gt; in Quarto?<br>This app lets you ask natural language questions about Quarto tips I've rounded up over the years. Note it's not the complete Quarto docs! Jeffrey04<p><a href="https://kitfucoda.medium.com/i-built-a-word-guessing-game-with-llm-84aefcf7edeb" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">kitfucoda.medium.com/i-built-a</span><span class="invisible">-word-guessing-game-with-llm-84aefcf7edeb</span></a><br>Spent a fun weekend building a word-guessing game with LLMs! My mentor suggested adding LLM features to my chatbot, BigMeow, and this was the result. It's a simple yes/no format, but prompt engineering was the real challenge. Getting the LLM to understand questions, keep the secret word, and avoid spoilers was tricky!</p><p>I started with Gemini via Openrouter, but quickly ran into call limits. So, I explored self-hosted models using Jan.ai. Talk about a learning experience! The self-hosted models had wildly different levels of comprehension and consistency, making for some hilarious (and sometimes frustrating) gameplay. It really highlighted the differences between readily available, powerful LLMs and self-hosting on personal hardware.</p><p>This project was a fantastic learning experience. It showed me the potential of LLMs for game development, the importance of prompt engineering, and the realities of working with different LLM options. The code is on GitHub if you're curious! <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/LLM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LLM</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/GameDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GameDev</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/WordGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WordGame</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/WeekendProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WeekendProject</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Programming</span></a></p>

Laloofah<p>Assembling &amp; erecting this arbor to support some arching but drooping branches of our Young’s Weeping Birch has been our Labor Day weekend project — tho it would have been more appropriate as an Arbor Day project! 😁 It still needs a finishing touch or two (like recessing the visible stabilizing board so we can cover it with rocks, &amp; of course festooning the arbor with little white faerie lights is IMPERATIVE! <br>😏 ✨ 🧚 ) But we’re really happy with it!<br><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/landscaping" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>landscaping</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/weekendproject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>weekendproject</span></a></p>

The site tends to be completely dark at night and has no electric power. So I took a 54 meter LED light string from storage early and made a converter to power it from a usb powerbank. It lead a safe way over the grass to the bathroom at night.</p><p>The strip is rated for 9W at 31V.<br>To make the battery last longer and also lower the brightness for total darkness I brought that down to 5W. At this power it lasts 15 hours.</p>
