Shout out. Anyone use or have used a Fairphone and if so, what are your thoughts? Pros and cons, beyond the obvious self-repair and long-term support? Boosts okay.

edit: thanks for the feedback, all. Now currently discussing options with my wife.
@andy FP3+ user here, my 2nd one actually. The 1st one had a mainboard problem. The part that couldn't be swapped. So I bought a 2nd-hand one afterwards and kept the first one for spare parts.
I('ve) run /e/OS on both of them (1st pre-installed, flashed the 2nd one myself).
Camera is mediocre, the design is over 5 years old, so not really fast anymore. Software support is good. Hardware is very repairable/swappable, as you've already said.
@andy Do not expect a top-of-the-line smartphone comparing costs 1 to 1 with a Samsung or an iPhone. It isn't up to that standard.
Making things repairable (or in other words, not making everything integrated) comes with a downside in bulk/volume and performance.
I think it comes down to what's important for you.
Performance/price/good camera? Don't take a FP (I don't know about the camera in the 4/5 though.)
Repairability, long time support, freedom to own your phone? Buy a #fairphone
@quin_antarctic Yeah, to be honest I'm due an upgrade soon and after much discussion with my wife, I suspect she's going to stick with a mainstream smartphone and I'll look into the Fairphone myself in a few months time. Thanks for the exhaustive write up, it's appreciated!
I upgraded from FP3 to FP5, and it's a big difference. I have no experience with mainstream phones, but I'm quite happy with the camera now.
