How the social media ban harms children
@devopscats What I've read before the paywall kicked in:
The author is missing online youth communities. That's the other side of the coin.
As far as I got in Europe information about this legislation, the Australian government should address this. The easiest way would be a well moderated, isolated #Friendica instance (Mastodon limit might be to short for self-written poems of teens or other longer messages about their mood etc).

@devopscats The onboarding system has to be modified to prevent adult accounts: Nationwide codes should be randomly provided to schools that distribute them to their students. The students use their code on a single account creating website to provide verified and anonymous instance accounts.

@tbones I put a non paywall link now it's been archived. There's a number of services that Australia should provide like a federated information instance. In fact only a couple of decades ago Australia built out a massive research network to promote research, but unfortunately as the media becomes more captured by the right wing, the further to the right our centrist and leftist politicians turn, the less things like education and this are funded.
@devopscats A good article!
Sad to hear but it's the same at least in German speaking countries of Europe where I'm able to receive meaningful reports.
