My wife's desktop is pretty old: AMD A4-5300 with 8 GB DDR3. Good hardware, but not enough for the modern web.
Today I've bought a used Dell OptiPlex 3080 MFF with i3-10100T, 8 GB DDR4 and 512 GB SSD for 700 PLN ($174) in #CeX shop. It doesn't have Wi-Fi card, but I have one. Also I have a 16 GB DDR4 module.
Surprise: the BIOS has admin password, and there is no more "CMOS reset" jumper on the motherboard. You can press power button for 20 seconds, and it resets some settings,
but not the password.
And the boot order is locked, so I can't just boot that I want, from my drive, even with security boot disabled in BIOS.
I've checked the PCIe Wi-Fi module: when it plugged, PC starts without an error message, as it could be with BIOS locked to DELL-only adapters.
So tomorrow I will return it back to the shop.
For curious people: you can search in the Internet for "dell 8fc8 bios unlock", I had no luck. Nice site https://bios-pw.org doesn't support my version.
