I wasn't that taken with Tipi-tap either, but I have to be honest and say that without Mashiro and Yeseo, they will always feel incomplete to me .

After a slow start, Kep1er grew on me. This was one of their best title tracks. I'm afraid I've been using the past tense for them ever since Mashiro and Yeseo left .

...musically it's not a million miles away from 'I Got You'. In addition, it's also one of my favourite MVs of 2024, Kep1er -- Shooting Star:

Kep1er were formed as a group from the winning contestants of a survival show. The original plan for them was to disband earlier this year, and people were expecting 'Shooting Star' to be their final comeback.

In fact, nearly all the members signed new contracts with the agency, so Kep1er has lived on although both Yeseo (0:46) and Mashiro (2:44) left to join another group, MADEIN, which, I am sorry to report, is in the midst of a scandal regarding its agency's CEO's harassment of a group member.

Yet even though Kep1er lives on for the moment, one can still watch the MV and see it both as an expression not only of the shooting star like transience of pop culture existence but also of a determination to maintain the bonds of friendship and affection - 'See you again and again and again - in another galaxy'. I love the melodic rap and dance moves that go with those lines (1:18 - 1:28) !

Don't worry, though, if you don't love the two songs I've recommended. As I mentioned before, there is so much Kpop out there that you are bound to find more groups and songs that you like.

I don't want to clog up timelines with my views on every single kpop release, but I do want to say how disappointed I have been by Kepler's recent comeback.

"Tipi-Tap" sounded like a weedy New Jeans track, while "Sync-Love" dashed my hopes for a strong promoted B side; it's no "MVSK"!

On the other hand, I do quite like "Drip".

Anything after "Shooting Star" was going to be a comedown. I miss Yeseo and Mashiro.
