One of the sprawling buildings along the Sugar River at the historic mill complex in Claremont, NH (July 2013). At the time of this photo, part of it was being used for storage rentals.

My dad had various keepsakes stored here, including home movie reels. Sadly, he got behind on the monthly fees and everything was seized by the owner. #FensterFreitag #NewHampshire #NikonD7000

A 5 story brick building with many small windows. Some appear to be broken or covered over. A few tractor trailers are parked in front of the building on a gravel lot. It looks neglected and abandoned, despite being at least partially in use.

So this is "exciting:" I just got a light meter upgrade.

I've been using this #Gossen pilot for some time now, and while it's good... it's kinda broken. But, the local hamfest had one vendor that actually gave me a #Sekonic model 38, which seems to be in better condition.

The problem with the Gossen is that the actual needle has broken off, so it's quite short (shorter than the yellow pointer), and that the white plastic cover to slide over the sensor (to make it more of a scene average than specific spot reading) has cracked, meaning I don't trust using it.

The Sekonic needed a little calibration, but it's running pretty close to what my #Nikon D7000 is reading in matrix metering mode, so I'll call that good enough.

A Gossen Pilot light meter in it's plastic case with a blue fabric interior. The meter itself has two windows for setting the film ASA in the center (very tightly packed together, the values on the right window are "between" the values in the left window), an EV reading up at the top-right, and a single large scale for valid shutter/aperture combinations. The window at the bottom is quite dirty and dark, but it's just possible to make out the barest hint of a white line on the left and a yellow pointer on the right.
A Sekonic model 38. This one has windows to read film sensitivity using both the ASA (black, right) and DIN (red, right) scales, the EV window is also marked LV, and at the top there's a "movie" scale that has f-numbers on the same ring as the "normal" scale has shutter speeds. The movie scale has marks for 64, 32, 24, 16 (highlighted), and 8. There's also a second metal disc in the center that has three points marked "CLOSED," "OPEN", "and "AMP," in red, blue, and black, respectively. The "OPEN" index is aligned with a red dot on the center. On this meter instead of the needles protruding from the top of the device, they come from the bottom. A large, thin white line (sensor), a clear piece of plastic with a red "C" shape (setting), and a small white line and dot are seen etched into the back very, very near the zero position of the white needle. The top (where the light cell is) has a metal cover with a small slit in it, and that cover is currently flipped out of the way.
