@uesp
Rumours have been around for quite a while from different directions, so maybe? It's hard to say, some #TES rumours have become big but turned out to be nothing. Guess that's the fate of a popular franchise.

As for TES Renewal's #Skyblivion, I think Bethesda knows about them and has stated to be good with it in some way, as long as the original game is required. Similar to #OpenMW. Knowing that, It'll be extra shitty changing that now after all this work.

@gamingonlinux I tried #GemRB a couple of years ago but got the impression that it still wasn't a good experience, but still a curious experiment.

The worst part was how unstable it was, causing frequent crashes more often than the original game engines. This would be one of the most desirable traits, improved stability and crash management like you get with #OpenMW (The Morrowind open source engine project).

Has it gotten better? I can't seem to find any recent gameplay or reviews of it.

#OpenSource rewrites of classic game engines are amazing. #ScummVM , #OpenMW , #OpenRCT2 , #fheroes2 , #devilutionX are some of my favorites. The best way to not only a) preserve classic games, but also b) enhance them, c) port them to new operating systems, and d) turn them from proprietary software into just binary data read by an open source program.

I appreciate #GOG for not only hosting and selling no-DRM copies of these old games, but often bundling the open source engines officially.
