#Microsoft raising #Insecurity AGAIN

TOTAL #RECALL ^2

arstechnica.com/security/2025/

#Arstechnica #DanGoodin raises a good point, it is not only YOUR computer that you need worry about but anyone else who processes your #PII or anything you send them and isnt willing or able to opt out.

Its the same crap as when Whatscrapp was all the rage and no one gave a damn about it harvesting their address books.. but on a much larger and insidous scale.

What a nightmare..

I've just been through the gauntlet of setting up credentials for Social Security. At one point the recovery passwords are displayed. While it may be convenient to have these passwords automatically captured, the #security and #privacy implications are unfathomable. Right now, #Recall is opt-out and stored locally. But history tell us that it won't stay that way. Soon enough, it will be mandatory and stored in the cloud. There is no way that #Microsoft will pass up this treasure trove.

This will affect you even if you haven't enabled the so called "feature" or not even using Windows. This can ultimately spy on your conversations with somebody who uses Recall.

It’s sad that for even my more technically inclined friends that switching to Linux is just a complete dead end non-starter for them.

They don’t even have any Windows only dependencies and for gaming…we mostly just play games together and I’ve been gaming on Linux with them for years.

I’ve brought it up a couple times as a couple of them are upgrading their PCs and almost got laughed at.

In case you forgot about Microsoft Recall, it looks like it will reappear in your Copilot+ computer soon running Windows 11.

I am sure you are all thrilled with the idea of a screenshot being taken of your screen every 3 seconds, right?

MS continues its unhinged quest to force Recall on everyone. AI was always a flop, even before the orange menace. They have nothing else going on.

Nice toy but hardly any real money to justify suffocating the planet.

Everyone blinked. Good riddance.

Lilbits: Microsoft Recall, more tariff-related pricing uncertainty, and Samsung’s Ball-shaped robot

Microsoft’s Recall software has had a rocky road to launch. First revealed almost a year ago as the most impressive AI-powered feature that would be coming to Copilot+ PCs with sufficiently powerful neural processing units, the idea was to make it easy to find just about anything you’d previously done on your computer by saving frequent snapshots and allowing you to find an interact with […]
