"Georgia has no law dictating how to dispose of miscarriage remains, but police arrested her anyway...

"We warned that this would happen. For decades, feminists screamed from the rooftops that banning abortion would kill women and jail miscarriage patients. In response, we were accused of fear-mongering—called career overreactors desperate to paint all women as victims."

Abortion, Every Day · They're Arresting Us for Miscarriages NowBy Jessica Valenti

"Critics, meanwhile, told lawmakers that Senate Bill 31 doesn’t go far enough to protect women facing pregnancy-related medical emergencies and even quietly resurrects 160-year-old laws that could be used to criminalize those who have undergone an abortion or have helped those who receive an out-of-state abortion."

The Texas Tribune · Amid support from doctors group, bill to clarify Texas’ abortion ban does little to save lives, critics saySenate Bill 31 supporters say it would clarify when doctors should intervene to save a pregnant woman’s life, but critics say its vagueness and a measure to resurrect pre-Roe laws hamper it.

"A New York county clerk on Thursday blocked Texas from filing a legal action against a New York doctor for prescribing and sending abortion pills to a Texas woman.

The unprecedented move catapults the interstate abortion wars to a new level, setting the stage for a high-stakes legal battle between states that ban abortion and states that support abortion rights."

"Texas Republicans have proposed changes to the state’s strict abortion ban they say would make clear that doctors can terminate pregnancies for serious medical risks without having to wait until a patient’s condition becomes life-threatening.

The legislation comes in response to a ProPublica investigation last fall that revealed how three Texas women died after they did not receive critical procedures during miscarriages."

"State Sen. Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola, filed Senate Bill 31. He said this would ensure that doctors who practice obstetrics and gynecology must take a course to know what the law is, and the course must also be available to hospital lawyers as well.

'Our goal is to make the statutes crystal clear,' said Hughes. 'So there is no excuse, no delay in treating moms that need help and making sure that docs know what the law is.'"

"...some Democratic attorneys general are visiting abortion clinics to hear their workers’ fears and requests, and training law enforcement on how to respond when demonstrators break the law.

The moves come in response to President Donald Trump pardoning abortion protesters convicted of federal crimes and reducing enforcement of a decades-old law that prohibits interference with anyone seeking reproductive health services."

@jasonbeets @gwaldby

I live in #Texas. No effing way am I helping fund #Democrats in other states unless and until the #DemocraticParty starts acting like a legitimate #opposition party.

Especially any #Democrat who publicly distances themself from #transgenderRights. Because, either you believe it is perfectly reasonable for the #government to tell people what they can or cannot do with their own bodies, or you don't. The logic that denies gender-affirming #healthcare is the exact logic used to deny #ReproductiveJustice. Either people have a right to #BodilyAutonomy or they don't. There is no #centrist position here.

Im beyond for just trans rights
Im fighting for freedom of form completely
Full self modification and bodily autonomy and reproductive rights (abortion etc)
Full gene editing including germline editing (form of allowing yourself to pass on to the next generation your own gene edits)
I will not gatekeep gene editing nor diy hrt
The common misconception that diyhrt comes from fear and lack of education of how it works and transmed bullshit

the 'let's roll up our sleeves and get organizing' in response to the election results and potential crises on the horizon is encouraging (albeit frustrating since it's what so many have been pleading for us to start doing since the *last* election), but as things stand right now, i don't see a path toward meaningful organizing gains

until we can reach a critical mass of masking again, working together is a non-starter. we can have our differences but when they put others at risk, we're simply not on the same side. soc-dem, dem-soc, little c communist, liberal, anarchist, leftist, feminist, abolitionist, antifascist, environmentalist... it doesn't matter how you identify unless we find consensus on taking care of each other

developing a culture (counterculture?) of care is step zero and your organizing efforts won't have any support from people like me until we do
