• In my 15+ years of experience, @torproject / #Tor works as a #PerformanceProxy on #throttled #mobile networks in #EDGEland since #MNO|s and #MVNO|s don't properly negotiate a "link width" but #throttle by #dropping packets, adding #TCP #SlowStart as #latency.

OFC it won't make shit go faster, but more reliable.

• #latency is shit on all mobile networks that ain't straight-up #IP-based like #WiFi, Tor doesn't add that much to it...

In fact, Tor makes #throttled connections bearable for me for >15 years, as even back in 2008 one couldn't just get "unlimited data", espechally not as an individual (school child) without income or wealth!

Jumping to 2018, our next role is Shion from #SlowStart. The older cousin of protagonist Hana, Shion helps provide both a roof over her head and a shoulder to lie down on when the world gets to be a bit too much. Playing closer to her actual age than with Mao, MAO does an excellent job as the slightly airheaded onee-san who still knows the right thing to say.

Jumping to 2018, we've got Hiroe from another slice of life anime, #SlowStart. A downstairs neighbor of the protagonist, Hiroe is a deeply introverted, Bocchicore woman who struggles to even walk to the convenience store. Still, she tries her best to help out Hana with her own anxiety as a mentor, reflected in Uchida's softer, more nervous tone.

@dsfgs @torproject it's by the #MVNO, and they do it very ugly by not negotiating a lower #LinkRate (which would make sense given the actual claims why they trottle people down) but just limiting packet rate and dropping shit that would exceed the bandwith.

Resulting in #SlowStart issues...

But this seems almost like connections get reset.
