BBC News tells me that Keir #Starmer wants to reduce "#regulation". In other news, local authorities don't have enough money to check thousands of #toxic sites. '"What we don't do in this country is do a full #economic evaluation on the cost of things, including #health and that feels almost criminal," said Dr Ian Mudway, a leading expert on the effect of #pollution on human health'

A landfill site having more waste dumped on it by a yellow truck. There are green hills in the background and electricity pylons can be seen dotting the horizon.

"Westminster ultimately determines what Holyrood can spend, and #Starmer appears to be as intent as #Musk to punish those without the ability to work, whether that be because there is no work to be had, or because they have other responsibilities in life, or because they are sick, or have disabilities. None of that appears to matter to Starmer. It would appear that he has had the same empathy bypass that Musk must have had."

27 nations of the EU have acted promptly & decisively in response to US trade hostility.

For "global Britain" the best our Premier can say is some mumbling about a table.

Do we yet understand what we threw away?

#Starmer can't afford to stand up to Trump tariff aggression, because simultaneously he is trying to act in a contradictory "brief to counsel" which is to pose as some sort of "honest broker" between the US & Ukraine on the Russian war. So we witness dithering.

"Oh no, our great ally has slapped Tariffs on our fragile steel industry, all those Red Wall voters, I had better lock up all the trans people to please Trump, how much can we sell the NHS for?"

What 'cards' if any do we have and will we have any say in what Starmer gives away to the US for a kind word?

At today's #PMQs, Zarah Sultana quotes #Starmer's words "#Israel does have that right to cut off electricity and water to #Gaza" she then gives an enumeration of Israel's crimes against #Gaza and culminates asking, "In light of these facts does the Prime Minister agree Israel is committing genocide?"

Starmer says he is appalled by Israel blocking aid when it is needed, and "we are doing everything we can to alleviate that situation"

This is a better response than one of a few years ago

Richard Burgon, at today's #PMQs, says, "rather than make chaneges to #welfarebenefits, the courageous thing to do would be to introduce a wealth tax on the very wealthiest in society"

#Starmer, in reply, refers to the non doms tax, which was weakened, and the raising of passenger duty on private jets, which raises bugger all

He then offers Burgon a sticking plaster and a gobstopper

Regarding the #Ukraine situation and discussions about a peace deal, at today's #PMQs Dave Doogan (SNP) asked #Starmer "what assurance can he give this house that the President of the United States is actually listening,"

Starmer replies that he "was pleased support for Ukraine was put back in"

I thought that happened because of yesterday's conference in Saudia Arabia, one that we were not invited to
