@JustinDerrick you can learn how @tailscale works from the documentation; tailscale.com/kb/1252/key-secr you will quickly learn that you might have been reading or hearing someone that doesn't quite understand how software defined vpn and specifically tailscale works? i used zerotier for years but gleefully embraced #tailscale.

Ich hab, was IT angeht, für heute Feierabend. 🔥🌃 Cheers!

PineNote Week Two mini-update. I'm just using the device now. It doesn't feel like a shiny new device anymore (post honeymoon) but I'm still enamored (to stretch the metaphor). I have been using it as a reading and writing device for the most part, single function at a time, and I'm quite happy with it.

I'm not really doing any application switching and using it as a full-Linux device (which it is)... BUT, I'm going away on a 5 day trip and considering just taking the PineNote (with a wireless keyboard) instead of a laptop. Maybe I should and report on that experience!? Bottom-line, that thought doesn't make me nervous (I'll get it on my Tailscale network and leave it without a lock-screen maybe? Taking suggestions!)

If you haven't seen the PineNote overview and rough edges videos, they still hold true after two weeks of usage. I don't generally worry about charging it day to day, aside from that still no other thoughts on battery yet.

Oh boy #ubuntu again 😒
in the update from kernel `6.8.0-55` to `6.8.0-56` they messed up some nf6tables targets.

After the update #tailscale is no longer working, other users reporting, that #calico is not behaving correctly...
🤦

With this and all the snap-stuff... might be time to look for another distro...

The @tailscale folks have some excellent YT videos on setting up self-hosted servers on Digital Ocean using Terraform, Ansible, and of course, Tailscale. I just got my first Droplet running.

Schade eigentlich. Tailscale WAR ganz nett.

Right!

#JellyFin installed. Most of my media reorganised and indexed.

#Tailscale deleted. I can't be bothered running it 24/7 on my phone.

#Docker and #NGINX reverse proxy manager installed. Probably done that right. No idea if it'll survive a reboot.

#LetsEncrypt set up with Dynamic DNS. No SSL errors!

HD Streaming over 5G works - but will have to see how adaptive it is on shitty hotel WiFi.

Bit of a faff, but seems to be working. Next step is configuring a Fire Stick to work with it.
