Winner has been jailed for the past year awaiting trial over charges that she leaked a top-secret document to The Intercept about Russian interference in the 2016 election. Winner had faced up to 10 years in prison for violating the Espionage Act. Details of the plea agreement have not been made public.
@schestowitz Reality Winner is one of the sadder whistleblower cases of recent times. Intercept fucked up their reporting, and there doesn't seem to be much media interest in her case.
Even if I agree with so-called "liberal/pro-activist" media more than rightwing oulets, I still don't trust them one bit to look after sources properly.
Also sad that none of the parties involved (even the govt!) did not pass on to young staff in an *infosec* role some decades year old knowledge about the existence of the yellow "microdots" in large printers which I read via EFF in about 2005/6..
though curiously they are not found with modern UK/EU printers (privacy laws?)
