No. 6, “Anvil.” A well-used, professional garage, lit by racks of fluorescents along the ceiling and the back wall; an imposing tool cabinet sits off to one side on a concrete pallet, and to another a lit torch has been laid on a mobile workbench. In the middle of the floor before us, upright, there's a radiator from a truck, edge-on to us, awaiting repair.

No. 7, “Gin-soaked.” At the far end of a parking lot, under a delicate evening sky, a red-roofed onion-domed church, small, but rich, a gable of the roofs below the dome figured with a golden Marian cross. Behind the church, a couple of freeway ramps stacked one atop another climb toward an unseen bridge, away off in the distance, perhaps.
