@teleclimber Our networking cheat code was Sandcats but there's definitely scenarios that doesn't address anymore, but I find your way forward familiar. :D
@ocdtrekkie I think home hosters should not expose anything to the public internet that does not to be accessed by a large number of unknown people. The risk is not worth the trouble. That's what I really like about tailscale and all the other mesh / private software define networks.
@teleclimber I can definitely see your point there. I *do* share a lot of things directly with other people on my server, but I have even imagined having an internal-only Sandstorm server... just because so much stuff *doesn't* need to be available on the web.
I do think if you have a sufficiently well-designed security model, the distinction between a VPN and "zero trust" network access can be without a difference... but my home firewall definitely doesn't provide that level.
