Saw the #movie #TheRoomNextDoor (2024) at my local #AMC yesterday & I liked it. It was more like watching a play than a movie.

#TildaSwinton & #JulianneMoore were great in it & think they both deserved #GoldenGlobe noms for their performances. Only Swinton got 1.

The movie is about a woman who is diagnosed a terminal cancer, who is tired of prolonging the hope of a cure by enduring experimental treatments for it & decides that she wants to end it by arranging to commit suicide but who doesn't want to die alone & asks a friend to be there "in the room next door" until she dies.

It's a poignant story that I identified with personally, given that I'm of an age when death (whether natural or not) is not so far away. What I liked most was how the dying woman (played by Swinton) took control of her life by deciding that she had had enough & decided to end it. Others may not understand or sympathize with this decision but I did.

I'd give the movie an 8 out of 10 & it's going on my #DVD "buy list."
