On 13–14th of February 2025, I organised a #Hackathon on #RomaniChords that explored various methodological avenues for my #MSCA project’s data acquisition.

Here’s a short thread summarising what we dealt with and achieved during these days.

CCying everyone interested in #Ethnomusicology, #Musicology, #ComputationalMusicology, #MusicScience, #RomaniStudies, #RomaniMusic and alike.

Let’s jump right into it!

Marie Skłodowska-Curie was more than a scientist — she was a pioneer and an inspiration for generations of researchers, standing to this day as an emblem of excellency in research. 💡

Let's celebrate the power of curiosity and discovery!

Hi!

A friend is about to begin their MSCA (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) postdoc position in Spain,
but is very confused with the contract the university proposed (as in: pre-tax salary quite a bit smaller than expected).

Any suggestions as to where to find info about salary breakdown in Spanish universities?

Please boost to help me reach someone that has information about this 🙏

ModConFlex' first researchers started around August 2023. Our presently 13 #MSCA researchers are coming from fields of #engineering, #physics and/or #mathematics. They are hosted by eight different #universities for their PhD and meet at least once a year at our annual network and training events.

Their research focuses on a range of topics from #ArtificialIntelligence over #ControlTheory (applied to floating #WindTurbines or, more theoretical, port Hamiltonian systems) to #FlexibleAircraft.

Last 2024 publication within the #ModConFlex project:

"LQR control for a system describing the interaction between a floating solid and the surrounding fluid" on #mathematics of #solid moving on the #sea and #control acting on the solid.

Co-authored by #ModConFlex #MSCA researcher Zhuo Xu and published in Mathematical Control and Related Fields:

Congratulations to Zhuo for his first #publication !

Be part of the #MSCA Staff Exchange and experience international research cooperation firsthand 🗘

International mobility fuels research, enabling discovery through diverse perspectives. If you want to take your research to the next level, we invite you to our Information Session about the upcoming Staff Exchanges call.

At the Session, you will learn all you need to know about how to apply to this opportunity: europa.eu/!nNRBvD

Here's another video on #RomaniChords, the topic of my #MSCA research project, which has just started...The video was presented at the #GypsyLoreSociety Annual meeting in Sofia last week.

Much like the previous video, it's based on 7 pictures [this time pictures in motion!] and is conceptualised as an introduction to the topic for anthropologists and Romani studies scholars.

Everything you wanted to know about #RomaniChords, but were afraid to ask =>

I've just published more than a 100-minute video explaining the current state of the art and the methodology for my freshly started #MSCA #RomChords project.

(a bit of a long read but in the form of a YouTube video 🙃)

Recommended especially to those interested in #Ethnomusicology, & #Musicology & #RomaniStudies

Any experience with #MSCA (Marie Curie) EU Postdoc Fellowships?
Thinking of re-writing a proposal for a national fellowship for the upcoming MSCA round vs. applying for MSCA next year.
Applying now gives me feedback and by next year I would have worked at the host for months, which might be seen as weird (even if I’m still eligible). But proposals scoring below 70% cannot re-apply (ca. 20% of entries in 2021) - are those just bad, or is it that competitive?
