Agile-mindset people are so afraid of exact roles (and bounded responsibilities), but grim reality has little compromises - people must focus on certain, specific things to do them properly. There is no way to sugar-coat it, really
"Dev" can just as easily be replaced with "Data" as well - same applies

Just heard back from my interview last week that I didn’t make it to the next round. And while I often can figure out some reasons when this happens, this time I’m genuinely flabbergasted. I thought the interview went exceptionally well and we had good rapport. I have all the skills they mentioned they required and then some. I tick quite a few diversity boxes, even. So even with a crowded market and lots of applicants, I don’t understand why they didn’t send me to the next round. What kind of candidates are people prioritising? So of course it’s hard not to wonder: “Is it because I’m AuDHD and open about it?” And that’s on top of wondering whether it’s my age or my gender. Even when places are particularly diverse and inclusive, those questions don’t just go away.
At this point, I’m genuinely unsure how I will ever earn money in tech again. There are no jobs to be had. No freelance work to be had. And it’s disproportionally neurodiverse people, gender-diverse people, BBIMP, disabled folks, etc. who are falling through the cracks.
It just really sucks.
And yes, I asked for feedback but got a reply that they unfortunately cannot give feedback. I think that’s code for we didn’t like your personality/autism, right?
Once you get that #StaffPlus role: You are expected to be more autonomous and might be working across multiple teams.
You might not be “on the ground” working day-to-day within a team.
Coding is just one of the ways you deliver value.
Your role now is to gather context & evaluate opportunities to help shape what you and other teams should focus on.

The reason I ask this is because management has decided my IT systems team will become the business automations team. There's an appetite to do business automations, but they don't want to hire more. All IT systems will be handed off to the endpoint team. I guess our team is the best at automation work, hence the new assignment.

Don’t waste time waiting for that “perfect role” that gives you all the skills and XP you need. Tailor the one you have instead. Ask for stretch assignments, sign up for things, squeeze all you can out it. Won’t be long till that “perfect role” finds you. #techcareer #infosec
